A Creative Work: The Music Composition of H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej “Still on My Mind” for Brass Quintet

Abstract

          The purposes of this research were 1) to study the history of the music composition of H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej “Still on my mind” 2) to study the harmony the music composition of H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej “Still on My Mind” for Brass Quintet
          This methodology was a qualitative research method. The main informants are 3 experts in composition and brass music instrument practice to provide guidelines for harmonizing the brass quintet ensemble, including practice guidelines of brass music instruments.
          The research findings were 1) “Still on My Mind” was no.37^th song composed by H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej. His Majesty composed it in the year B.E. 1965. It is the first song that His Majesty composes the lyric in english language by himself, with the title of the song "Still on My Mind". 2) The composition of the song was approximately 30 minutes. The researcher used the music composition of H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej “Still on my mind” for playing with a brass quintet and divided into 3 type tempos: Andante, Moderato and Allegro. The composition “Still on my mind” in the E-flat major scale and time signature 4/4, thus given this composition a balance of sweet, melancholic melodies to fun melodies. Therefore, chose to convey the composition of the song “Still on My Mind” through the brass quintet which is the most suitable band form in the researcher's approach to harmonizing the music in this song.
