The Use of Ancient Chinese Calligraphy Techniques in the Painting of Fossils in the National Natural History Museum of the People's Republic of China

Abstract

          This research objects to 1) study the concept and format of the exhibition of fossils in the National Museum of Natural History of the People's Republic of China, and 2) analyze the application of Chinese brushes in creating dinosaur evolution paintings for display in the exhibition format of the National Museum of Natural History of the People's Republic of China.
          This research was qualitative: 1) survey, collect data, and review literature from research, articles, and documents related to the exhibition of fossil paintings and ancient Chinese paintings in the National Museum of Natural History. The data was analyzed from the content of the literature review. and 2) conduct in-depth interviews with 5 experts: 3 experts in paleontology and 2 artists to analyze the application of Chinese brushes in creating Chinese paintings in the National Museum of Natural History of the People's Republic of China. The analysis was done by analyzing the content of the interviews.
          The results of the research found that 1) the concept and format of using traditional Chinese painting techniques have been applied as a painting concept, which has led to innovation and art in design and the integration of knowledge, science and art. An interdisciplinary integration method has been used on the existing basis to create more display methods that can be used in the exhibition of the Natural History Museum. 2) the use of ancient Chinese brushes in creating dinosaur evolution paintings. It can show the shape, characteristics, and evolutionary history of dinosaurs more accurately.
