Abstract
The book "Vela Luea Noi" (Time is Running Out) by Phra Paisal Visalo was compiled from the 29th Dhamma Talk, which took place at the auditorium of Rajamangala University of Technology Bangkok on July 27, 2014. The Kalyanamitra Dhamma Club first published this book in December 2014. It was intended to serve as a "mindful gift" for readers as they entered the new year of 2015.
The primary essence of the book focused on cultivating Appamāda (heedfulness or non-negligence) in living one's life within the context of a fast-paced modern society. The author profoundly questioned the mainstream value that "time is money" – an attitude that caused people to feel they "had no time" because they refused to let moments pass without generating financial gain. However, the author pointed out the ultimate truth: while our wealth might have increased, our remaining time in this world actually grew shorter every second. He suggested that realizing this truth served as a crucial turning point, encouraging individuals to dedicate their time to what was truly meaningful to the soul, such as performing acts of merit, spending time with loved ones, and preparing for death.
