The Roles in Supporting Sustainable Development Goals of the Siam Technology College Library
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to study the roles in supporting sustainable development goals of the Siam Technology College Library. This qualitative research collected data through in-depth interviews using semi-structured interview guides. The key informants consisted of 15 participants: college administrators, lecturers, staff members, students, library service center staff, and experts. Data were analyzed using content analysis.
The research findings revealed that: 1) Current operational conditions: The academic resource center has implemented operations that support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the routine operational level, particularly in the provision of information resources and basic services aligned with SDG 4 (quality education). However, several significant limitations were identified, including the absence of clear sustainability policies and strategic plans, fragmented information retrieval systems, and a lack of in-depth competencies among most personnel in effectively advancing the SDGs. 2) The informants agreed on enhancing seven key roles to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Key priorities include the integration of SDGs into organizational strategic plans and indicators (33.33%); the transition toward digital libraries, "One Search" discovery systems, and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) (40.00%) to facilitate user research in alignment with SDG 9 (Innovation and Data Accessibility). Furthermore, emphasis was placed on developing staff competencies toward becoming "knowledge facilitators," upgrading learning spaces based on universal design principles, and implementing energy management (100.00%) to create a sustainable learning ecosystem in accordance with SDGs 7, 11, and 17, as well as establishing concrete external partnerships.
