การประเมินทรัพยากรสารสนเทศอ้างอิงในรูปฉบับพิมพ์ของสำนักหอสมุดมหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่

Abstract

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อประเมินทรัพยากรสารสนเทศอ้างอิงในรูปฉบับพิมพ์ที่มีให้บริการในสำนักหอสมุด มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ ในด้านปริมาณ เนื้อหา ความทันสมัย คุณภาพ และการใช้หนังสืออ้างอิงโดยบรรณารักษ์และผู้ใช้ เพื่อนำผลการศึกษาไปปรับใช้เป็นแนวทางในการจัดหาทรัพยากรสารสนเทศอ้างอิง การจัดการชั้น และการปรับปรุงการจัดบริการตอบคำถามให้มีคุณภาพ ผลการวิจัย พบว่าสำนักหอสมุด มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่มีหนังสืออ้างอิงจัดบริการจ านวน 18,511 เล่ม แบ่งเป็นหนังสืออ้างอิงภาษาไทยจ านวน 6,985 เล่ม (ร้อยละ 37.73) หนังสืออ้างอิงภาษาต่างประเทศจำนวน 11,526 เล่ม (ร้อยละ 62.26) ด้านความทันสมัย พบว่ามีหนังสืออ้างอิงภาษาไทยและภาษาต่างประเทศที่มีความทันสมัยคิดเป็นร้อยละ 26.67 ด้านเนื้อหาแบ่งตามระบบการจัดหมู่ทศนิยมดิ้วอี้ พบว่าหนังสืออ้างอิงมีมากใน หมวด 300 (สังคมศาสตร์) หมวด 900 (ประวัติศาสตร์และภูมิศาสตร์) และหมวด 000 (วิทยาการคอมพิวเตอร์ สารสนเทศ และความรู้ทั่วไป) ตามลำดับ และมีหนังสืออ้างอิงหมวด 100 (ปรัชญา) น้อยที่สุด ด้านคุณภาพ พบว่ามีหนังสืออ้างอิงภาษาไทยที่มีคุณภาพร้อยละ 85.40 และหนังสืออ้างอิงภาษาต่างประเทศที่มีคุณภาพร้อยละ 4.63 ด้านบริการตอบคำถาม พบว่ามีผู้ใช้มาใช้บริการในปี 2553-2558 ลดน้อยกว่าปี 2554 ร้อยละ 92.48 จากการเก็บสถิติการให้บริการในช่วงเดือน มีนาคม- พฤษภาคม 2559 พบว่ามีผู้มาใช้บริการ 233 คำถาม คิดเป็นการใช้บริการโดยเฉลี่ย 2.53 ครั้ง ต่อวัน คำถามส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นคำถามขอคำแนะนำการใช้ รองลงมา คือ คำถามข้อเท็จจริง และค าถามเฉพาะเจาะจง ตามลำดับ และบรรณารักษ์นิยมใช้ฐานข้อมูลอินเทอร์เน็ต และหนังสืออ้างอิงอิเล็กทรอนิกส์มากกว่าหนังสืออ้างอิงฉบับพิมพ์ในการให้บริการ ด้านการใช้
โดยผู้ใช้พบว่ามีการใช้หนังสืออ้างอิงน้อย โดยมีการใช้โดยเฉลี่ย 8.96 เล่ม ต่อวัน ส่วนใหญ่เป็นหนังสือพจนานุกรมร้อยละ 39.15 ผลการศึกษาการใช้หนังสืออ้างอิงในช่วง 3 เดือน พบว่ามีการใช้ทั้งหมด 835 เล่ม (ร้อยละ 5.82) จากจ านวนหนังสือทั้งหมด 14,325 เล่ม (คัดเล่มซ้ำออก)

Evaluation of Printed Reference Collection of Chiang Mai University Library

This research had the objectives of evaluating the Printed Reference Collection of Chiang Mai University Library in terms of number, content, being up to date and quality as well as the use of reference books by librarians and other users in order to use the study results as a guideline for improvement of the information resources, acquisition for reference, shelf management and inquiry services. The research findings showed that Chiang Mai University Library had as many as 18,511 reference books; 6,985 (37.73%) in Thai, 11,526 (62.26%) in English and other foreign languages. In terms of being up to date, it was found that 26.67 percent of all the reference books in the library were up to date. As for content, it was classified by the Dewey Decimal Classification and the higher number of them were in the 300’s (Social Science), the 900’s (History and Geography) and the 000’s (Computer science, information & general works)
respectively. The lowest numbers of books were those in the 100’s (Philosophy). In term of quality, the number of Thai reference books that met the standard was 85.40% whereas only 4.63% of the foreign reference books were considered as meeting the standard. Regarding the inquiry services, it was found that the number of service users in 2012-2015 was 92.48%, less than those in 2011. Service statistics between March and May, 2016 was 2.53 times a day on average, for a total of 233 inquiries. Most of the inquiries asked for guidance in the use of the library followed by ready reference questions and specific search questions respectively. The librarians tended to use databases, Internet and electronic
reference books rather than printed reference books, only 8.96 volumes per day for average use and most of them (39.15%) were dictionaries. During the reference books used study period for 3 months, out of total 14,325 reference volumes (removed duplicate volume), 835 (5.82%) reference volumes were used.
