Publication Ethics of The Periodical of Behavioral Science

        In order to comply with international publication standards, The Periodical of Behavioral Science defines the roles and responsibilities of all parties involved as follows:

Duties of Authors

  1. Originality of the Work: Authors must certify that the submitted manuscript is original, has not been previously published, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  2. Plagiarism and Use of Others’ Work: Authors must confirm that all text, ideas, and opinions presented in the manuscript are their own and that no part of the work involves plagiarism or infringes upon the intellectual property rights of others.
  3. Accuracy of Data: Authors must ensure that the research findings reported are derived directly from the study conducted and that the data have not been fabricated, falsified, manipulated, or altered for any purpose.
  4. Authorship Contribution: All individuals listed as authors must have made substantial contributions to the research or played significant roles in the study.
  5. Compliance with Journal Format: Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the format and standards specified by the journal.
  6. Citation of Sources: Authors must appropriately acknowledge all sources used by providing proper in-text citations and a complete reference list at the end of the manuscript.
  7. Verifiability of Sources: All data and references cited must be verifiable and traceable to reliable sources.
  8. Disclosure of Funding Sources: For research articles, authors should clearly disclose all sources of financial support for the research.
  9. Research Ethics Approval: For studies involving human participants, authors must provide the approval number or reference from an institutional research ethics committee.

Duties of Editors

  1. Ensuring Article Quality: Editors are responsible for ensuring that all articles published in the journal meet appropriate academic and scholarly standards.
  2. Decision on Acceptance or Rejection: Editors make publication decisions based on the significance of the content, academic rigor, originality, clarity, and alignment with the journal’s aims and scope.
  3. Verification of Originality: Editors must ensure that submitted manuscripts have not been previously published or disseminated elsewhere.
  4. Plagiarism Screening: Editors are required to conduct plagiarism checks using reliable evidence and recognized detection tools.
  5. Peer Review Process: Editors must select reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript’s field and conduct a double-blind peer review process to maintain academic impartiality.
  6. Avoidance of Conflicts of Interest: Editors must have no conflicts of interest with authors or reviewers to ensure transparency and fairness in the editorial process.
  7. Consistency in Editorial Decisions:
    A newly appointed editor should not overturn a publication decision made by a previous editor unless there is clear evidence of a serious flaw or misconduct in the earlier review process.

Duties of Reviewers

  1. Review within Area of Expertise: Reviewers should evaluate manuscripts that fall within their specific areas of academic expertise.
  2. Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and must not disclose any part of the content during the review process or prior to official publication.
  3. Avoidance of Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers must disclose and avoid any conflicts of interest with authors, editors, or the editorial board to ensure impartial evaluation.
  4. Objectivity and Fairness: Reviews must be conducted objectively, without bias or personal prejudice, and should not rely on unsupported personal opinions.
  5. Providing Constructive Academic Feedback: Reviewers should provide constructive, scholarly comments and recommendations to help improve the quality of the manuscript for publication.

Research Ethics Policy

All research articles submitted for publication that involve human participants must receive approval from a Human Research Ethics Committee of an institution accredited by the Office for Human Research Protection, the National Research Council of Thailand. The research must also comply with international ethical standards and applicable laws.
