Abstract

This study aimed to develop and investigate the effectiveness of a positive psychological capital development program affecting volunteer behavior in the compulsory volunteer group. The sample consisted of 40 compulsory volunteers from a private foundation in Bangkok by sample assignment. Divided equally into two groups of 20 compulsory volunteers for an experimental and a control group by volunteer behavior score before experiment. The research instruments included a positive psychological capital development program through action learning and a volunteer behavior questionnaire with Cronbach’s Alpha of .946. The result is shown as follows (1) the experimental group had the mean values of volunteer behavior after the experiment, and the follow-up period was statistically significantly higher than the control group at the .05 level. (2) The experimental group had the mean values of volunteer behavior after experiment and the follow-up period was statistically significantly higher than, before the experiment at the .05 level. The research findings that there was the effectiveness of the positive psychological capital development program through action learning in fostering volunteer behavior of compulsory volunteers. The results were helpful to the management in using this program to improve effectiveness of foundation.
