The Enhancement Parenting Behaviors of Parents with Teenage Children Through Integrative Family Counseling

The purposes of this research were; 1) to develop the integrative family counseling program based on Behavioral Theory for enhancing parenting behaviors of parents with teenage children, and 2) to study the effects of a program of integrative family counseling program based on Behavioral Theory for enhancing parenting behaviors of parents with teenage children. It was divided into 2 steps. The first step aimed to develop the integrative family counseling program based on Behavioral Theory for enhancing parenting behaviors of parents with teenage children including 10 sessions, 60 minutes each. Step 2 studied the effects of the integrated family counseling program based on Behavioral Theory for enhancing the parenting behaviors of 16 families who were randomly assigned into experimental group and control group. All 16 families had average point of parenting behaviors at low score ( < 4.07) and volunteered to participated in the study. The instruments used for collecting data were the parenting behaviors of parents with adolescent children questionnaire with the reliability at 0.896 and the integrated family counseling program based on Behavioral Theory for enhancing the parenting behaviors. The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and Two-way repeated measure analysis of variance. The findings revealed;
- The integrated family counseling program based on Behavioral Theory for enhancing the parenting behaviors for enhancing parenting behaviors of parents with teenage children which was administered for 10 sessions; 60-90 minutes.
- The results of the measurement of the effect of the integrated family counseling program based on Behavioral Theory for enhancing the parenting behaviors for enhancing parenting behaviors of parents with teenage children were: 1) At post-test and follow-up, the experimental group obtained significantly higher score on parenting behaviors than the control group at .05 level of significance. 2)The experimental group obtained significantly higher score on parenting behaviors at the post-test and follow-up than pre-test at .05 level of significance.
