A MODEL FOR RAISING AWARENESS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT OF SCHOOLS IN KHLONG SAEN SAEB AND ITS BRANCHES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

ABSTRACT

This article, a part of the research entitled “A model of raising awareness for environmental management of schools in Khlong Saen Saeb and its branches for sustainable development” has three objectives: 1) to study the process of raising awareness for the sustainable environmental management of schools in Khlong Saen Saeb area, 2) to monitor and evaluate environmental education projects, 3) to analyze the model of environmental education projects through the paradigmatic factors affecting its success for the sustainable development. The research areas is a community schools in Khlong Saen Saeb and canal branches, five districts, eight schools. The research model was the mixed methods research, qualitative and quantitative by sample population staff in the school totaled 295.The research tools were used survey methodology, and documentary, the In-depth interviews with key informants, Focus group discussions, Rating scales Statistics, Frequency, Average and Standard Deviation. The research has been found that: Firstly eight schools applied an integrated model to create knowledge with morality through seven step-ladders where the learning process to mechanisms were: environmental education policy and school administration structure, in terms of organizing the learning process, seven steps, in organizing the whole school system as an environmental education school, in the aspect of participation and create a network of environmental studies. Secondly, the monitoring and evaluation of environmental education projects Khlong Saen Saeb area number of schools, 8 schools, informants are school personnel administrator, teacher analyze the data by means. standard deviation The results showed that administrators, teachers join in recognizing and solving environmental problems of schools and communities while enhancing knowledge and understanding by organizing learning activities according to environmental education principles, emphasizing head-heart-hand forms integrated into the curriculum by organize activities in accordance with environmental education with seven-step learning process for sustainable development goals including creating innovations to solve environmental problems in the conservation of environmental campaigns for Khlong Saen Saeb water resources and branch canals for community leaders and the surrounding communities to participate in conservation with 8 schools and give opportunities to those involved all levels, it is involved in 4 mission driven initiatives. eco School overall, it was high level, (x ̅= 4.17, S.D. = 0.57). Thirdly the environmental education project model was analyzed through the paradigmatic factors affecting the success for the sustainable development in the following ways: there should be the management controlling, by the promotion division and disseminate environmental studies groups eco school project environmental studies Khlong Saen Saeb area have a control strategy. There should be development model which is an integrated model where the knowledge and morality are together created through the seven-step-ladders learning process, the first development plan that clearly states the action of environmental education on push into action and there should be the innovations in accordance with the current lifestyles and the future overview where its linkages are dependently considered through the curriculum structures of the eco-school projects, and creating networks and the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, 1997-2007, stipulates rights and duties of people, communities, the private sector and independent organizations to participate in local environmental management.
