GUIDELINES FOR ENHANCING AND DEVELOPING POTENTIAL OF WOMEN IN PATHUMTANI PROVINCE

Abstract

The purposes of this study are 1) to study the problems, needs and roles of women in Pathum Thani province. 2) to promote and develop women capabilities in Pathum Thani province. 3) to develop guidelines on promotion and development of women capabilities in Pathum Thani province using action research. The target groups are women groups in Pathum Thani province. The study found that most problems that occurred in the 4 women groups within a community engaging in agricultural product processing aforementioned are quality and standard of goods and products. There is a need for product improvement, product promotion and adding value to the products, promoting and development women capabilities in all 4 locations through workshops. This would enhance the technical skills of each group. There is also a need for field studies, market surveys, packaging design and the public relation’s development. This study presents the suggestions in three levels; individual, group and policy which consists of empowering women, building the participation of women across generations, supporting the development of women’s networks, and promoting the women’s role in the community, including the development of flexible short courses related the needs of women.
