CONSTRUCTING SHANXI ZUOQUAN FOLK SONG VOCAL TEACHING GUIDEBOOK FOR SECOND-YEAR STUDENTS AT SHANXI NORMAL UNIVERSITY, SHANXI PROVINCE

Abstract

This research explores the construction of a vocal teaching guidebook for second-year students at Shanxi Normal University, focusing on Zuoquan folk songs, which embody the rich cultural heritage, beliefs, and regional identity of Shanxi Province. Rooted in local traditions and influenced by historical narratives and religious expressions, these folk songs serve as a vital medium for preserving and transmitting the spiritual and cultural values of the community through music education. The purpose of this study was: 1) To study the Shanxi Zuoquan Folk Songs; 2) To construct a Shanxi Zuoquan Folk Songs Guidebook for teaching vocal students at Shanxi Normal University, Shanxi Province ;3) To experiment teaching by using Shanxi Zuoquan Folk Songs Guidebook at Shanxi Normal University, Shanxi Province ;4) To evaluat of teaching effective by using Shanxi Zuoquan folk Songs Guidebook. A mixed research approach was combined with qualitative research (literature review, interview) and quantitative research (IOC assessment, formative, summative, performance testing). The study object are 10 second-year vocal music students from the School of Music of Shanxi Normal University. Research tools included interview sheets, IOC tables, teaching guidelines, formative, summative, and performance tests. The results show that: the theoretical knowledge of the historical origin, development process, classification and artistic characteristics are summarized through expert interviews and literature review, and the teaching guide is constructed accordingly. The teaching experiment showed that the students singing ability of Zuo Quan folk songs was significantly improved. In addition, the performance test results also showed that the students stage performance and emotional expression ability were recognized by the experts.
