Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the originate processes and analyze the application of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy in improving disabled persons’ quality of life of Yala Biodiesel Community Enterprise Group. Data were collected from document, field observation, and informal interviews with 3 committee members, 2 staff members, 15 disabled people, and 20 of their family members. Content analysis method was employed to analyze data and result was presented descriptively. The results were divided into two parts. The first part involved with the originate processes, which were split into 3 phases. 1) The establishment by individuals grouping together and registering as Yala Biodiesel Community Enterprise Group. 2) The bridging stage with the disabled, and appointing the disabled persons as purchasing point in the communities. 3) The group driven by Phumpalang Pannumjai Biodiesel Foundation. The second part involved the application of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy to improve disabled persons’ quality of life, which consisted of three concepts: principle, knowledge, and practice. The principles focused on living a self-sufficiency life. The knowledge aimed at the body of knowledge and ethics of the 11 aspects of Thai people quality of life. The practices was based on modesty and rationality of thinking, practice and mutual benefits, leading to potential cooperation, goodness empowerment and dignity empowerment, and strengths in self-sufficiency, altruism, and the network for the disabled.
