Abstract

          The research on evening news landscape in TV digital age is a qualitative research with objectives to study evening news landscape in TV digital age. The researchers had reviewed theories and relevant researches as guidelines and conceptual frameworks in analyzing the forms of evening news, news issues, contents, presentations, and communication technology, sources of issues and news, and social responsibility of the evening news in TV digital age. The research was conducted by selecting case studies of three evening news programs, including Praden Ded Jed See Program ,Koa Sam Miti Program, and Thairath Joh Praden. The study methods were divided into three parts: Part 1) Analysis of information about the evening news. Part 2) In-depth interviews with news editors, producers, newscasters and news reporters. Then, the researchers had discussed and presented the information by an analytical descriptive writing.

          The research results indicated that the evening news in TV digital age in term of political economy were in line with the concept of capitalism that focuses on economic factors, news rating, advertisement budget, and profit of digital TV stations. These factors affected the forms of the evening news and works of news editors. It could be found that new communication technologies contributed to the changes of evening news landscape in TV digital age as follows: 1. The forms of news program were up-to-date, colorful, and thrilling with presentation of real situations. 2. News issues and contents used a variety of in-depth analysis forms and offering news as an ongoing series 3. The popular method of news presentation was a reality form and using modern communication technologies, namely LiveU, video transmission over 4G network, immersive graphics, info-graphics, and drone camera. 4. The sources of issues and news were sources from social media, VDO clips, Facebook, Instagram, identifications from news audiences, surveying actual areas by news reporters, and synthesizing highlight daily news issues.

          The research results could be concluded that all the three evening news programs gave precedence to the issues of ethics, morality and social responsibility in delivering accurate, balance and equal news by referring sources, concealing images of dead bodies, victims, faces, and real names without violating privacy rights.
