Abstract

This study aims to explore the discourse reproduction of beauty of a horse-faced woman in Thai folklore, “Kaeo Na Ma”. In Thailand, discourse on beautiful women has been reproduced repeatedly and become the most popular reinforcement for the glamour of women in society. In the case of Kaeo Na Ma, although the story seems to challenge the discourse of beauty, it is in fact a reproduction of discourse on beautiful women, i.e. an unattractive woman trying to become a beautiful woman.
