The Significance of “Serendipity’ in Anthropological Fieldwork

Abstract
In the article, the author explains the significance of the serendipity in anthropological fieldwork. The moment of discovering something that it is not quested for may be occur to the anthropologists who spend a long-term stay during their fieldwork and using participant observation method. In addition, the author shows how that accidental discovery data is important. However, to discover something during the fieldwork by serendipity base on the sagacity and the prepared mind of the anthropologists that never overlook the taken-for-granted. Besides, the anthropologists should have an ability to interprete an empirical data that is discovered by serendipity, and make an inference to the theoretical explanation.
