Steaming, Platform, Labour Process and Capitalism

Abstract

The article focuses on the question as to how we understand the Twitch TV streaming platform in a situation which the e-sport gaming industry is growing. The article reveals that we should understand this platform as part of capital accumulation process. The ownership structure of the platform has built up unequal power relations between capitalists and workers. The capitalists use that power to transform the outcomes of labour processes into their properties without producing those products. In other words, labour power that connects to the platform is used for capital accumulation process.
