บทคัดย่อ
บทความนี้ต้องการศึกษาการเกิดขึ้นของ “ความรักโรแมนติก” ในฐานะเป็นความสัมพันธ์และความปรารถนาทางเพศรูปแบบใหม่ภายใต้บรรทัดฐานของการสร้างชาติไทย ทศวรรษ 2480 ซึ่งเป็นช่วงเวลาเปลี่ยนผ่านทางสังคมและวัฒนธรรมที่รัฐไทยกำลังส่งเสริมและผลักดันให้พลเมืองสร้างครอบครัวแบบผัวเดียวเมียเดียว ทั้งนี้ การศึกษาที่ผ่านมาจะอธิบายระบบผัวเดียวเมียเดียวในฐานะเป็นกลไกที่สร้างความทันสมัยและความศิวิไลซ์ให้กับชาติ บทความนี้ต้องการต่อยอดและขยายขอบเขตความเข้าใจดังกล่าวไปสู่การวิพากษ์พรมแดนอำนาจและความรู้ที่ซ่อนเร้นอยู่ในวาทกรรมของรัฐที่อธิบายความรักโรแมนติก และตัวตนทางเพศของพลเมือง โดยจะนำแนวคิดของ Michel Foucault มาเป็นแนวทางวิเคราะห์ ซึ่งพบว่าความรักโรแมนติกในสังคมไทยมีการนำเอาอุดมการณ์ปัจเจกนิยมมาผนวกรวมเข้ากับจารีตนิยมของระบบเครือญาติ ทำให้ความรักไม่ใช่เพียงการสร้างเอกภาพของคู่รักแต่ยังเป็นการสร้างหน้าตาทางสังคมด้วย
