Abstract
Abstract
This article studies Thai adult Disney fans as a cultural space that fosters emotional growth and identity construction. The main finding indicates that Disney functions as a Safe Space, not provided by the producer, but actively constructed by the fans themselves through a shared affective atmosphere.
The key argument is that this space is not merely Escapism from reality. Instead, it is a Site of Practice where fans use Disney as a Cultural Resource to develop Negotiation Strategies to explore their identity, accept diversity, and challenge social expectations. The analysis, based on Stuart Hall's encoding/decoding and Henry Jenkins' participatory culture, understands fans as empowered agents who interpret and create new meanings relevant to their real life contexts.
