บทคัดย่อ
ทฤษฎีพิพิธภัณฑ์วิทยาใหม่เป็นทฤษฎีที่ส่งผลให้พิพิธภัณฑ์มีหน้าที่ที่หลากหลายมากขึ้น พิพิธภัณฑ์ไม่เพียงแต่มีบทบาทในการอนุรักษ์และสืบทอดมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมเท่านั้น แต่ยังมีบทบาทด้านการศึกษา ความบันเทิง และบริการสังคมอีกด้วย ในบริบทนี้ ซากดึกดำบรรพ์เป็นมรดกทางธรณีวิทยาที่สำคัญและเป็นหลักฐานของวิวัฒนาการ ทางชีววิทยา และการพัฒนาแบบจำลองงานสร้างสรรค์ต่อเนื่อง (derivative) ของซากดึกดำบรรพ์บรรพชีวินวิทยาก็มีความสำคัญอย่างยิ่ง เนื่องจากไม่เพียงแต่ขยายขอบเขตการทำงานในด้านสังคมของพิพิธภัณฑ์เท่านั้น แต่ยังให้ความรู้ด้านวิทยาศาสตร์แก่ประชาชนทั่วไป และส่งเสริมอุตสาหกรรมที่เกี่ยวข้องและผลประโยชน์ทางเศรษฐกิจอีกด้วย อย่างไรก็ตาม เนื่องจากในปัจจุบันยังขาดกลยุทธ์ในการพัฒนาที่ตรงเป้าหมาย แบบจำลองงานสร้างสรรค์ต่อเนื่องของซากดึกดำบรรพ์บรรพชีวินวิทยาจึงมักไม่สามารถแสดงศักยภาพได้อย่างเต็มที่ และไม่สามารถตอบสนองความต้องการด้านการศึกษาวิทยาศาสตร์และวัฒนธรรมของประชาชนได้ โครงการนี้จึงได้จัดทำขึ้นโดยพิจารณาถึงความสม่ำเสมอของคอลเลคชันซากดึกดำบรรพ์บรรพชีวินวิทยาในพิพิธภัณฑ์ประวัติศาสตร์ ธรรมชาติ โดยใช้งานสร้างสรรค์ต่อเนื่องของซากดึกดำบรรพ์บรรพชีวินวิทยาเป็นสื่อกลาง และผสมผสานทฤษฎี พิพิธภัณฑ์วิทยาใหม่เพื่อเพิ่มน่าความสนใจให้กับการจัดแสดงในพิพิธภัณฑ์ เพิ่มความนิยมของพิพิธภัณฑ์ประวัติศาสตร์ธรรมชาติในท้องถิ่น และขยายอิทธิพลทางสังคมของพิพิธภัณฑ์
