Guidelines on Developing a Holistic Health Care System for the Elderly in Nakhon Nonthaburi Municipality

Abstract

           This research aims to present guidelines on developing a holistic health care system for the elderly in Nakhon Nonthaburi Municipality. The research findings show that the health care system for the elderly in Nakhon Nonthaburi Municipality recognizes holistic health care development including physical, mental, social, spiritual, economic, and environmental dimensions. In addition, the health care system for the elderly in Nakhon Nonthaburi Municipality also supports factors for supporting the health of the elderly, the health care service system, and community participation, namely 1) supporting a holistic health care system for the elderly in all dimensions; 2) reducing challenges and obstacles to development of a holistic health care system for the elderly by raising awareness and recognition of health care management and the importance of health among the elderly; 3) ncouraging the elderly to participate in activities equally and effectively at all levels; and 4) developing elderly-friendly pilot communities to be models for other communities on developing a holistic health care system. However, strategic mechanisms and instruments are necessary and recommended for ensuring effective implementation, such as database sharing, integrated collaboration with stakeholders, practical Key Performance Indicators (KPI), a friendly service mechanism, establishment of alliances with other partners. and full utilization of social capital.
