Abstract

Book review “The Practice of Social Research”By Babbie E.

The Practice of Social Research is a text book about practice of quantitative and qualitative research design. The writer classifies four parts to understand the process of research:

1) Introduction to Inquiry; 2) The Structuring of inquiry: quantitative and qualitative;  3) Mode of observation: quantitative and qualitative; and 4) Analysis of data: quantitative and qualitative.

The presentation style of the book has many figures to explain technical terms. In summary, the author shows the prominent principle for evaluating research report should have ethics in each Chapter.

บทคัดย่อ

The Practice of Social Research ของ แบ๊บบี้ เป็นตำราระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเบื้องต้น ทั้งระเบียบวิธีวิจัย   เชิงคุณภาพ และเชิงปริมาณ ผู้เขียนได้แบ่งเนื้อหาออกเป็น 4 ส่วน ประกอบด้วย 1) กระบวนการค้นหาความจริง       2) โครงสร้างของการศึกษาระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงปริมาณและเชิงคุณภาพ 3) รูปแบบการดำเนินการวิจัยการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณและเชิงคุณภาพ และ 4) การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลของการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณและเชิงคุณภาพ จุดเด่นของหนังสือ      เล่มนี้คือ หลักจริยธรรมในการทำวิจัยและการวางตัวให้เป็นกลางท่ามกลางกระแสความคิดต่างๆ ในคำตอบของงานวิจัย ผู้วิจัยสามารถเอนเอียงความคิด ความเชื่อของตนสนใจในแนวคิด กระแสความคิดใดก็ได้ แต่เมื่อทำงานวิจัย ผู้วิจัยต้องวางตนเป็นกลางทางความคิดและเป็นกระบอกเสียงในการเผยแพร่ความจริงเหล่านั้นออกมาให้สังคมได้รับรู้
