Development of Brain-Based Learning Instructional Material Package on Pineapple Jam Processing for Mathayom 1 Students at Debsirin School

Abstract

The objectives of this research are: 1) to develop an instructional material using brain-based learning on preparation of pineapple jam for grade 7 students of Debsirin school; 2) to compare learning achievement in Home Economics 1 course on the topic of preparation of pineapple jam between students taught with brain-based learning material and with traditional teaching method and 3) to study the level of satisfaction of the students with the brain-based learning material. The sample of this study comprises 2 classes of grade 7 students, 38 students each, in Debsirin school who studied Home Economics 1 course in second semester of 2023 academic year. The total number of 76 students was picked using cluster sampling. Instruments used in this research are the brain-based learning instructional material, instructional media evaluation tool, pineapple jam preparation skill assessment questionnaire, and student satisfaction survey. The statistical tools used are arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and independent samples t-test.

The results found that 1) the quality of content, instructional materials and educational technology of the instructional material package was at a very good level, 2) the students who were taught by the instructional material package achieved higher learning outcomes than those taught by traditional methods at the significance level of 0.05 and 3) the students’ overall satisfaction toward the instructional material package was at the highest level.
