Development of a manual on career guidance services for grade 11 students

This research aimed to develop a comprehensive manual on career guidance services specifically designed for grade 11 students. The study employed a qualitative methodology and consisted of two distinct phases. Phase 1 focused on the creation of the manual, while Phase 2 involved evaluating its suitability.
In Phase 1, three experienced guidance teachers were selected as informants through purposive sampling, employing specific criteria for their selection. Data were collected from these guidance teachers using semi-structured interviews, which provided valuable insights and inputs for the manual's development.
The resulting manual was divided into three parts. Part 1 introduced career guidance services and outlined various career guidance activities tailored to grade 11 students. Part 2 addressed the effective management of career guidance services for grade 11 students. Finally, Part 3 provided guidance on managing career guidance activities within the classroom setting for grade 11 students.
Phase 2 of the research aimed to assess the suitability of the developed manual. Guidance experts were selected as evaluators using purposive sampling with predefined selection criteria. Data regarding the manual's suitability were collected through an evaluation form specifically designed for this purpose. Statistical analysis, including mean scores and standard deviation, was employed to analyze the collected data.
The results indicated that the developed manual received positive feedback. The overall suitability of the manual for career guidance services received the highest mean score of 4.81. Furthermore, the specific sections on managing career guidance services for grade 11 students and managing career guidance activities in the classroom for grade 11 students received mean scores of 4.65 and 4.92, respectively, indicating their high suitability.
