The Development of a Life Skill-Enhancing Activity Model of Early Childhood Children in Private Schools in Pathumthani Province

Abstract

The research objectives for this research are: 1) To study the components of life skills and skill conditions of early childhood children in private schools in Pathum Thani Province; 2) to design and develop the activities to promote life skills and to find the effectiveness of activities to promote early childhood life skills in private schools Pathum Thani Province; 3) To experimental the model of the activities to promote life skills in private schools in Pathum Thani province; 4) To evaluate and improve the form of activities for enhancing life skills of early childhood children in private schools in Pathum Thani Province. The study was a Mixed Methods Research in nature. The participants group of this research was 20 third year kindergarten students in the second semester of the 2021 academic year at Tanyawit school. The research tools are 1) the tools that were used for the experiment 1.1 12 lesson plans 1.2 Handbook of activities of early childhood life skills in private schools Pathum Thani Province; 2) Tools for collecting data of fidelity questionnaires of teachers using the activity model. This research was conducted using the research and development model and the basic experimental research model (pre-experimental study), which is a single-group experimental study measured with a pre- and post-test test (the onegroup pretest-posttest design). The data were analyzed by using statistics, mean, standard deviation and t-test for dependent  and content analysis. 

The results found that:

  1. The study of basic early childhood life skills in private schools in Pathum Thani province found that 1) There are four basic early childhood life skills which are social, communication, emotional, and cognition. The average are in the high level ( =4.11, SD. =0.57) and 2) The interview form had a content consistency index of 0.60-0.80.
  2. The design and develop the activities to promote life skills and to find the effectiveness of activities to promote early childhood life skills in private schools Pathum Thani Province, it was found that the developed learning model PAAI was developed with 4 steps which are P (Plan), A (Activity), A (Action) and I (Inferring). All of these were evaluated by five educational experts assessed to have a high level of suitability. The total mean was 4.21 and the standard deviation was 0.18.
  3. The experimental model for promoting early childhood life skills found that preschool children who learn life skills activities are competent in the form of activities to enhance early childhood life skills which has a difference in mean after the experiment and it was higher after the experiment. The students' life skills achievement was statistically significant at .05.
  4. The evaluate and improve the format of activities to promote early childhood life skills found that the teachers were satisfied in using the form of activities to enhance early childhood life skills. Their satisfaction was at a high level, with a mean of 4.70, a standard deviation of 0.17.
