THE INTEGRATED THERAPY MODEL AND PROCESS OF REHABILITATION STAGE STROKE PATIENTS FOR HEALTH SECURITY

Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1) to study the concept of therapy process for rehabilitation stage stroke patients of modern medicine and Thai traditional medicine,
2) to develop the concept of therapy process for rehabilitation stage stroke patients of modern medicine and Thai traditional medicine, and 3) to present an integrated therapy model and process for rehabilitation stage stroke patients to create health security. It was an integrated research method, which consisted of qualitative research and action research. There were 45 key informants. Comparisons were used to compare before and after knowledge of the workshop participants. Research tools included in-depth interview, focus group, and sets of activities and pre-test and post-test of the training in order to analyze the concept of therapy process for rehabilitation stage stroke patients of modern medicine and Thai traditional medicine, and to synthesize obstacles and opportunities for integrated therapy. 

The results were as follows:

For Objective No. 1, it was found that modern and alternative medicine had distinctive features that were unique. To achieve maximum efficiency, knowledge-based integration was necessary with the integration of Thai traditional medicine, modern medicine, and participation from all stakeholders to understand how to work together with clear roles and duties as well as seamless connection to the work system for the greatest benefit in caring for the patients.

For Objective No. 2, it was found that there were five issues of the development of concepts, knowledge, and understanding of rehabilitation stage stroke patients of modern medicine and Thai traditional medicine to create health security: 1) caring for rehabilitation stage stroke patients of modern medicine and Thai traditional medicine, 2) health security in rehabilitation stage stroke patients, 3) knowledge about herbal medicines and their medicinal properties, 4) knowledge about life elemental diet and life elemental diet appropriate for rehabilitation stage stroke patients, and 5) knowledge about physical therapy for rehabilitation stage stroke patients. The results of pre-test and post-test had an average of 50 percent increase in overall scores, and 35 participants had an increase in scores. The mean score was 9.88. In addition, it was found that the average knowledge score after participating in the activities according to the group activities created by the researcher was statistically significantly higher than the average pre-test score at 0.01 (Sig. (2-tailed) = .000).
