About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Journal of Social Science and Cultural is an academic journal of Wat Sarareang Phrapariyattidhamma School, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand. It aims to promote scholarly inquiry and to disseminate research and academic articles in support of teaching, learning and research in Buddhist universities, the Thai Sangha, external academic institutions, and among scholars and interested readers generally.
The journal considers manuscripts in the following fields:
1. Buddhist Studies and Philosophy
2. Culture, Liberal Arts and Humanities
3. Social Sciences, Social Development and Community Development
4. Political Science and Public Administration
5. Educational Administration and Applied Instructional Practice
6. Economics, Econometrics, Finance and Business Administration
7. Other interdisciplinary fields connected to social science and culture, including the social dimensions of health sciences and nursing
Manuscripts falling outside this scope will not be considered. The Editorial Board reserves the right to desk-reject submissions that do not align with the aims and scope of the journal.

 

Types of Articles

1. Research Article — reporting original research conducted by the authors, with a clearly stated and verifiable methodology.

2. Academic Article — presenting systematic analysis, synthesis or review of a scholarly topic, together with conceptual contributions.

3. Erratum / Corrigendum / Correction and Retraction Notice — published in accordance with the journal’s Correction and Retraction Policy and treated as a distinct article type with its own pagination.

 

Publication Frequency

JSC publishes 12 issues per year, one issue per calendar month, from Issue 1 (January) through Issue 12 (December).

 

Peer Review Process

JSC operates a double-blind peer review process. The identities of authors and reviewers are mutually concealed throughout. The process comprises six stages:

Stage 1 — Desk Review by the Editorial Board (approx. 7 working days): assessment of fit with the journal scope, completeness of formatting and referencing, research ethics approval where applicable, and the CopyCatch similarity report.

Stage 2 — Peer Review (approx. 21–30 days): at least two reviewers with expertise matching the subject area, affiliated with institutions other than that of the authors, and free of any conflict of interest.

Stage 3 — Editorial Decision: accept; accept with minor revisions; major revisions with re-review; or reject. Where reviewer recommendations conflict, a third reviewer is appointed to adjudicate.

Stage 4 — Author Revision: authors must address every reviewer comment and submit a point-by-point response table within the stated deadline.

Stage 5 — Final Round: authors verify the typeset PDF. Only typographical and punctuation corrections are permitted; substantive changes are not.

Stage 6 — Publication in the assigned issue, followed by issuance of the publication certificate. The journal does not issue an acceptance letter before the peer review process has been completed in full.

Typical time from submission to first decision: 30–45 days.

 

Open Access Policy

JSC provides immediate full open access to its content. Readers may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full texts of all articles free of charge and without prior permission, provided the source is properly cited.

The journal applies no embargo period and levies no charges on readers or their institutions.

 

Copyright and Licensing

Copyright in published articles is held by the Journal of Social Science and Cultural. Authors retain their moral rights in full.

All articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International Licence (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0), permitting reproduction and distribution with attribution, for non-commercial purposes, and without derivative works.

Authors may deposit the published version in an institutional repository or on a personal website, provided the original publication is acknowledged and linked to the journal website.

 

Article Processing Charges (APC)

JSC levies an Article Processing Charge of THB 8,000 per article for manuscripts submitted through ThaiJO from 1 January 2026 onwards, payable in two instalments:

Instalment 1 — Peer review processing fee of THB 5,000, payable once the manuscript has passed the initial editorial screening.

Instalment 2 — Publication fee of THB 3,000, payable once all reviewer comments have been addressed and the Editorial Board has approved the manuscript for publication.

Conditions: payment is accepted only into the journal’s single designated bank account and is arranged solely through ThaiJO; no fast-track service is offered and no additional charges of any kind are levied; the same rate applies to all authors without exception or preferential treatment; payment does not guarantee acceptance, which depends solely on the outcome of peer review; fees paid are non-refundable.

 

Digital Archiving and Preservation

All journal content is hosted and archived on ThaiJO, operated by the Thai-Journal Citation Index (TCI) Centre in collaboration with NSTDA. The journal additionally participates in the PKP Preservation Network and maintains an independent backup of the complete files of every issue to guarantee long-term access.

 

Sources of Revenue

The journal derives revenue from two sources only: article processing charges levied on authors at the published rate, and institutional support from Wat Sarareang Phrapariyattidhamma School. The journal receives no advertising revenue, commercial sponsorship or other income that could influence editorial decisions. All revenue is applied solely to the operation of the journal.

 

Advertising Policy

JSC does not accept commercial advertising of any kind on its website and does not permit direct marketing to authors, reviewers or readers.

Names, addresses, e-mail addresses and other personal data entered on this journal site are used exclusively for the stated purposes of the journal and are not made available for any other purpose or to any third party, in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019).
