Abstract
This article presented developing criteria for assessing community-based tourism management towards sustainability. Community-based tourism (CBT) is a type of community-driven by community management for their community. Several communities have good management of the community. In addition, other communities need direction to manage community tourism. The main aim of this paper is to develop a criteria assessment of CBT to understand CBT components with the quality and efficiency of community management. This development criteria assessment is based on the literature review and related research. This article can contribute new knowledge by conducting analytical CBT concepts and theories, CBT assessment criteria, and sustainable tourism. To apply, the concepts and theories create tools for developing criteria for assessing CBT toward sustainability. The results found that the CBT assessment consisted of 8 components (i.e., internal community management, nature, environment, and sustainability management, heritage and culture management, destination and attraction management, activities management, network and strengthen community management, safety management, and certify and service management) to implement with an assessment of CBT. The criteria assessment can be applied and implemented in the assessment of tourism within the community to provide CBT readiness and the area's potential, including an understanding of the criteria assessment standards and integration. CBT is evolving the certified standard from agencies, as well as being a mechanism to drive tourism within the community to be sustainable
