EMPOWERING VOLUNTEER LEADERS FOR SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF IMUMPORN 9 COMMUNITY, SAMUT SAKHON PROVINCE

Abstract

This research article aims to 1) Develop a knowledge set to empower volunteer leaders for social development, 2) Develop activities to empower volunteer leaders using the CSR process, and 3) Extract lessons and build a network of volunteer leaders for social development in the community of Ban Im-Amporn 9, Samut Sakhon Province. This is a participatory action research. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 41 key informants and participants using an interview form. The data were analyzed in terms of content and presented descriptively through storytelling. The research results found that 1) The development of a learning manual for “Being a Volunteer for Social Development” consisted of the basics of being a volunteer and Buddhist principles for volunteer work, volunteer leadership skills for health promotion, environmental conservation, strengthening a strong society, and volunteer missions. 2) The development of activities to empower volunteer leaders by the CSR process consisted of enhancing existing knowledge and adding new knowledge on the basics of being a volunteer and Buddhist principles for volunteer work, increasing skills in health promotion, environmental conservation, strengthening a strong society, and adding new knowledge on writing work plans, projects, and creating community calendars, resulting in model volunteer leaders. 3) The extraction of lessons resulted in the “SOM MODEL” as a model for driving volunteer work, consisting of networks and working methods. Which is a guideline or a model for driving the work of volunteer leaders to develop society that sees tangible results of change in the area, both changes in volunteer leaders and changes in the community, which will help volunteer leaders have guidelines for systematic community development, efficiency, and long-term sustainability, and can be applied to other communities.
