Development of the Manual for Measurement and Evaluation of Students’ Desirable Characteristics at Phra Saeng Vitthaya School under The Secondary Educational Service Area Offices Surat Thani, Chumphon

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to: (1) studying the measurement and evaluation of students’ desirable characteristics at Phra Saeng Vitthaya School under the Secondary Educational Service Area Offices Surat Thani, Chumphon, (2) developing the manual for measurement and evaluation of students’ desirable characteristics at Phra Saeng Vitthaya School, (3) presenting and evaluating the manual for the measurement and evaluation of students’ desirable characteristics at Phra Saeng Vitthaya School. For this research, a qualitative research methodology was used with 15 people that also includes 5 people with the position of administrative authority to provide important information and group discussions were conducted with many highly qualified academics. The data was analyzed by 7 qualified academics inductively. The research results found that: (1) There is a necessity of operational conditions for measurement and evaluation of students’ desirable characteristics at Phra Saeng Vitthaya School. Measurement and evaluation of students’ desirable characteristics could be carried out in 5 steps as follows 1) setting indicators, 2) analyzing behavioral indicators, 3) designing measurement and evaluation tools, 4) evaluation criteria, and 5) summarizing results and assessment (2) Development of the manual for measurement and evaluation of students’ desirable characteristics at Phra Saeng Vitthaya School, includes 8 following elements: 1) the name of the manual, 2) explanations, 3) background and importance, 4) objectives, 5) definitions, 6) measurement and Evaluate of students’ desired characteristics: 7) reference documents and 8) appendices. (3) All the experts agreed that it was possible, appropriate, and useful to present a manual for measurement and evaluation of students’ desirable characteristics at Phra Saeng Vitthaya School. The manual has 8 elements, consistent with the measurement and evaluation in the context of educational institutions.
