The Guidelines for Development of School Administrators’ Academic Leadership in the Digital-Era under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office, Khon Kaen

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to (1) study the current conditions, the desirable conditions and needs for academic leadership in digital-era of school administrators, and (2) study the guidelines for development of school administrators’ academic leadership in the digital-era under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office, Khon Kaen. The sample group used in this study consisted of 20 school administrators and 338 teachers under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office, Khon Kaen, with the total of 358 people. The research tools were questionnaires about the current conditions, the desirable conditions and needs for academic leadership in digital-era of school administrators and a semi-structured interview form. The statistics used in data analysis comprised frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Priority Needs Index (PNI), and content analysis. The results of the study found that the academic leadership in the digital age of school administrators under the Office of the Secondary Education Area, Khon Kaen, is at a high level overall and the overall desired condition is at the highest level. The order of necessity is as follows: 1) Educational supervision and consultation, 2) Academic atmosphere promotion, 3) Curriculum and teaching management, 4) Management, and 5) Academic work planning and mission determination. The guidelines for developing academic leadership in the digital age of school administrators under the Office of the Secondary Education Area, Khon Kaen, consist of 5 aspects, 25 guidelines, consisting of 1) Educational supervision and consultation (5 guidelines), 2) Academic atmosphere promotion (5 guidelines), 3) Curriculum and teaching management (5 guidelines), 4) Management (5 guidelines), and 5) Academic work planning and mission determination (5 guidelines).
