Smart Farming Ecosystem and Agricultural Data Governance

Abstract

This article aimed (1) to study the smart farming ecosystem and (2) to propose agricultural data governance. This study is qualitative research carried out by document analysis and in-depth interview with the coordinators of projects under the Digital Economy and Society Development Funds fiscal year 2020 to 2022, in the area of agriculture, to analyze the collected data, numbers of literatures were included in examining in order to identify the actors in smart farming system. Identification of the actors in smart farming system will help set up a proper agricultural data governance. The results of this study found that the actors in smart farming system include platform, volunteer and user. Additionally, it was suggested that the relationship between platform, volunteer and user must be considered in setting up proper agricultural data governance which must be in accordance with fact or reality. Thus, proper agricultural data governance will be a mechanism that allows the involvement of the volunteers and the users.
