The Study of the Image of Women in Novel “Krachao Sida”

Abstract

           The objective of this research was to study the image of women in the Novel Krachao Sida by using literary structure theory to study the various elements of the novel, the theory of status and roles to analyze image concepts in which characters depicts different behaviors principledly and reasonable.


           The researchers studied the image of women in the novel Krachao Sida by using literary structural meory which consists of content, plot, theme, characters, dialogue, setting, and atmosphere. Event order and storytelling strategies are important components that make the novel understandable and accessible to the fullest.  After that, we studied the status and roles, then brought the data to analyze the concept of image through 7 female characters, namely Ramnam, Namping, Namprao, Nang Num, Sasee, Ratee, and Wadee. The study found that status and roles can be divided into 2 types: 1. status and roles since born as being son or daughter; and 2. the status and roles acquired later as mother, wive, friend, and occupation. The status and roles that the characters are assingned all affect the image of them as they should perform. The image is divided into a positive and negative image. Each character has different positive and negative images, and all affect the story.
