Problems and Obstacles in Opening a Doctoral Program: Case Study of the Faculty of Law, Prince of Songkla University

This research includes the study of problems and obstacles in opening a doctoral program: case study of the faculty of law, Prince of Songkla University and suggesting ways to solve such problems and obstacles. As the research method is in the form of documentary research in Thai and foreign languages.
The research found that the opening of a doctoral program has problems and obstacles, especially in terms of the name of the program, number of instructors, education and qualifications of instructors, budget, human resources, location and facilities.
Recommendations from that the research are the faculty should open a Doctor of Laws program because it is in line with the Master of Laws program that the faculty currently accepts students and provides teaching and learning. Secondly, implementing control and support measures to have the number of instructors in charge of the program and full-time program instructors who are qualified according to the criteria. Thirdly, specifying budget expenditure items related to graduate program administration to cover all activities that need to be spent and have an adequate budget. Fourthly, the recruitment of new instructors with doctoral degrees to serve as instructors in charge of the program and full-time instructors of the program, and there are plans to develop full-time instructors who are currently performing their duties to study at the doctoral level. Finally, there should be a lecture room and common room for graduate students and dedicated reading seats for graduate students in the library.
