Guidelines of Green Environmental Management of Parcel Delivery Service Business

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to investigate the management issues faced by courier and delivery service businesses, and to establish environmental friendly management strategies for businesses. The research population consisted of 300 courier and delivery service businesses in Samut Prakan Province, and 90 individuals were selected by convenience sampling for in-depth interview. The semi-structured open-ended questions were employed to gather information on the environmental management challenges faced by courier and delivery service businesses. The data were analyzed by using qualitative content analysis. The research results revealed that the most problematic conditions of the parcel delivery service businesses were poor system management, personnel issues, environmental and transportation conditions. They created high operating cost and damages to the organization’s image.  Guidelines for green environmental management of parcel delivery service businesses comprised 4 core components: policy-based management, transportation management, workforce development and office building management for parcel delivery services.
