Even though no scores are assigned, journals in TCI Group 1 must meet all the fundamental criteria in order to be certified by TCI.
Then, Mr. Santit Itthiratmeechai and Mr. Sutthapichya Thongdachai shared the secondary criteria for evaluation of journal quality for TCI, 5th round, 2025-2029. For the secondary criteria, there are nine criteria with a full score of 20 points. For journals in TCI Group 1, they must not only pass all primary criteria but also obtain a total score of 16 points or higher.
After that, Mr. Wuthisit Yorchai shared the mission of the editorial board after the journal quality assessment. He discussed an overview of the journal operation process and the connections within related systems, along with providing guidelines and precautions for importing accurate metadata.
Prof. Dr. Narongrit Sombatsompop shared the background of the project and presented on the topic "Assessment of Ethics and Integrity in Thai Academic Journals in the TCI Database. He also provided information about the ethics and integrity of journal editors and editorial boards. It was emphasized that this ethics assessment is not part of the criteria for the 5th round journal evaluation but is conducted on an ongoing basis whenever complaints arise. Therefore, journal editors and editorial boards should ensure that their work aligns with ethical principles and publication ethics, which are crucial for enhancing research quality through high-quality academic journals. Additionally, the matter of transparently and fairly disclosing Article Processing Charges (APC) was highlighted. At the end of the seminar, there was an open discussion that allowed participants to ask their questions to better understand the topic of the seminar.
