Popular Music Methodologies Conference 18th -19th June, 2026
Posted on 2026-04-17We are pleased to share with you the announcement and poster for the upcoming Popular Music Methodologies Conference, which will take place on 18-19 June, 2026, at Middlesex University, London.
Following the publication, in 2025, of The Intellect Handbook of Popular Music Methodologies, edited by Mike Dines, Shara Rambarran and Gareth Dylan Smith, the conference will address the diverse ways we study, interpret and engage with popular music methodologies. The conference will be of particular interest to researchers, scholars, practitioners, and students working at the intersection of musicology, cultural studies, and popular music research. It aims to bring together researchers across various disciplines and fields to reflect on the tools, theories, and practices that currently shape the research of popular music.
We are also very happy to announce that our Keynote Speaker will be Prof. Steve Waksman (University of Huddersfield). Registration is now open. Please note that there is a reduced registration fee available for students.
