Abstract

          The objectives of the study on ‘agreement between crime prevention policies and identities of crime problems of Mueang Ang Thong Community’ are to study on the identities of crime problems in Mueang District, Ang Thong Province, to study on the agreement between the crime prevention policies by the Royal Thai Police and the identities of the crime problems in Mueang District, Ang Thong Province. This study starts with the in-depth interviews for setting the framework for the design of the questionnaire to be used for collecting information.

          The findings from the issues of identity crime reveal that the samples are aware of the time identity of the community. As for the types of crimes, it is discovered that the crimes of each type occur at a certain time. The precise identities of the crimes in the community are the occurrence and the criminals’ behaviours. Most crimes take start from the lack of adherence to the regulations and disciplines before expanding to more severe ones. It is also discovered that the most committed crime in the community is the mug. Most crimes are committed by groups of two or more criminals at dark areas with few passers-by. The samples deem that the locals make reports of crimes to the police so that the police officers know about and investigate on the crimes.

          The findings from the issues of crime control policy by the Royal Thai Police that is most appropriate is the crime prevention based on environs by managing the risk areas and the areas where people with criminal elements gather together. The regional crime prevention policy that is most appropriate is the development of knowledge of crime suppression and investigation that enable police officers to analyze the situations and uses techniques and modern technologies in the effective manner. The provincial crime prevention policy that is most appropriate is the dissemination of the related knowledge through printed media and the seminars that are held to boost people’s knowledge of the avoidance of situations that make them bear higher risks of being crime victims. It is also deemed that the crime prevention policy of the police station is most appropriate is the officers’ campaign to enable the locals to know about the patrolling program to secure the locals’ houses and the neighbor alert campaign that encourage the locals to have more self-protection.
