The Stealing of Delinquent Girls at Ban Pranee Juvenile Vocational Training Center For Girls I Causations and Solutions

Abstract

           The objectives of the research on ‘Causes of the Theft Conducted by Female Children and Youths at the Training Center for Girls Ban Pranee’ are to explore the causes that influence female children and youths commit theft and to find the way of solutions to prevent the female children and youths from committing theft. This research project incorporates documentary research and field research disciplines. The tool in the field research work is an interview script used for collecting data from the research populations. The case study of population is female children and youths at the Training Center for Girls Ban Pranee. Thus, the total number of the populations of this research is 8.

          The result of this research found that Female children and youths were around 13-16 years old when they committed crimes. The educational background of the studied children and youth is grade 6. Their fathers and mothers divorce or live separately from each other. They live with their stepfathers, uncles and friends. Their fathers and mothers are daily employed workers. The economic statuses of their families are moderate. They must find the special career to protect their family. Most of them have committed theft because they were upset and felt that they were different from others. Concerning their learning habits, the studied youths did not pay attention to their lessons and always skipped classes. The misbehaviors can be divided in two types, namely, self-conducted misbehaviors and collaborated ones. In some cases, the misbehaviors have been planned whilst in some other cases the misbehaviors occurred by the circumstances.

          The cause of the misbehaviors of most of the studied youth is their own selves. The studied youths were self-centered and stubborn. They did not listen to their fathers or mothers or parents. They thought that the thought of them are always correct. They loved freedom, were addicted to games and always hung out. They liked to try new things which led them to misbehaviors.

          The suggestions from this research is that the female children and youth who have committed theft should change their attitudes and behaviors. They should not be stubborn or self-centered. They should behave so that they will be good daughters for their fathers and mothers. They should befriend with good friends, make right decisions and always think about the results from whatever they do. As for the families, they should pay attentions to their children and set food examples for the children. The community should help prevent and correct children’s misbehaviors.
