The Management for Increasing Efficiency of Learning Resources and Cultural Tourism of Handicraft Communities in Muang District, Chiang Mai Province

Abstract

           Chiang Mai, the city full of arts and culture with numbers of handicraft communities, is one of the learning and tourist centers in Thailand. Nowadays there are a large number of tourists visiting Chiang Mai more than in the past. Yet, the management of making such learning center and tourist center is not very efficient. Therefore, the objective of this research is to study and suggest ways to enhance the efficiency of learning center and make the tourist center to be sustainable in the future.

           The results of the study showed that in Chiang Mai, among 5 handicrafts communities; that is, 1 silverware making, 1 brassware making, 1 Buddha image and metal casting, 1 paper lanterns and Tung making, 1 lacquer ware making, there are not enough government supports, public relations, learning media and good facilities for tourists. In order to make it better, this study guides each community to assemble its craftsman within its community to establish the learning center and demonstrate the handicraft located in the community with community craftsman, create the new learning media such as pamphlet, leaflet, sign, as well as coordinate with other government and private sectors to enhance the efficiency of being the learning center and the tourist center to be sustainable in the future.
