Development of Democratization: A case study of Thai and Myanmar

Abstract

            This article aims to analyze Thai and Myanmar Democratization process. The study was conducted by reviewing Thai-Myanmar Constitutional context that was written by the military junta and is linked with the Democracy’s Third wave theory.

            The result of the study shows that the new Thai government came to power by majority’s election which had been undermined from military junta regime. Moreover, Government lacked of power to implement the policies and, also gradually led to deadlock politic because of the political conflicts in Thailand that was are flectional the reverse wave of democratization, since Thai politics are controlled by the military dictatorship both directly and indirectly. Meanwhile, Myanmar’s constitution is making some changes to national harmonization as well as, paving a way of progressive democracy. However, it was found the military power remaining in the constitution.
