Dynamism of ASEAN Way and Cycle of Peace in the Region

Abstract

          This article utilized the threefold set of data: the global peace index, the principle of ASEAN Way and Paticcasamuppada (the Dependent Origination theory), to study the dynamism of ASEAN Way in propelling the peace cycle in the region. The global peace index from the result of peace evaluation in the regions around the world through the negative and positive peace indicators showed that although, South East Asia in general attained a medium level of peace but it has continuously decayed for past six years. This was a consequence of the international performance of ASEAN member states based on the principle of ASEAN Way. So, the adjustment of the ASEAN Way principle will propel the peace cycle in the region to higher level. And the starting point of peace cycle is the mindful awareness.
