Regular Meals: Food Culture and Eating Habits of Vietnamese Thais in Tha Bo District, Nong Khai Provincece

This article aims to investigate the food and eating culture of a Vietnamese-Thai community in the fresh market area of Tha Bo Municipality, Tha Bo District, Nong Khai Province. The research applies an ethnographic approach, utilizing methods that include participant observation, in-depth interviews and group discussion with the Vietnamese – Thais in the Tha Bo market. The study reveals that regular meals which are consumed in daily life, illustrate the cultural reproduction of the Thai-Vietnamese community. The study included aspects such as taste, ingredients, preparation, consumption, and table arrangements. The regular meals serve as a reflection of the development of their cultural attitudes, lifestyle, and the manifestation of "Vietnamese-ness” existing within the multicultural community.
