A MANAGEMENT MODEL DEVELOPMENT TO CONVEY LOCAL WISDOM IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS: A CASE STUDY OF THAPLAPRACHA-U-THIT SCHOOL

Abstract

This research mainly aimed at developing a management model to convey local wisdom for secondary schools: a case study of Thaplapracha-u-thit School participatory action research. The research method consisted of 2 steps: 1) Study the basic information, current condition, problems, needs, to develop a management model to convey the local wisdom for secondary schools, Informants included the group of teachers, the basic school board, the members of student-parent network, local sages and local wisdom, Thaplapracha-u-thit School totally 36 people. The information was collected by group discussion. 2) Create of the model by the local wisdom for secondary schools, Informants included the group of teachers, the basic school board, the members of student-parent network, local sages and local wisdom, Thaplapracha-u-thit School totally 12 people. The information was collected by group discussion and check the quality of the model, by totally 9 people, to consolidate the data using the expert-based seminar (connoisseurship), and to examine the appropriateness and feasibility of the draft model and the guide to the management model to convey local wisdom for secondary schools. The results found that 1) the current state of the transfer of local wisdom on the subject of curriculum integration was that, currently, the school has tried to integrate local wisdom into the teaching curriculum, but still in a limited scope. The teaching arrangement depended on the ability and interest of the teachers, and also lacked a systematic integration approach, or community participation. The school did begin to invite local and community sages and local wisdom to participate in the process of knowledge transfer, but only in a ceremonial or occasional field event. There was a lack of ongoing connection and sustainable cooperation between the school and the community. As for the use of local wisdom media and technology, the majority of them relied on traditional teaching and practical learning in real areas, but there was a lack of technology to strengthen learning and retention of local knowledge in a way accessible to students in the modern time. The problem of local wisdom transfer was found that schools lacked proficient teachers. In addition, some teachers lacked essential skills to teach and integrate the local wisdom content into the teaching curriculum systematically, making the transfer of knowledge occur in a discrete and inexhaustible way. The lack of learning resources, the provision of local wisdom-related materials and learning resources, such as learning materials, digital media, and teaching tools, remained problematic. The caused limitation of learning and failure to provide students with a comprehensive and profound learning experience, and creating teaching approaches that promote learning in local contexts. Teacher training and development was lacking. Indeed, it required training and development of teachers to have local wisdom knowledge and skills, as well as the use of teaching materials and technologies for teachers to manage more interesting and effective learning. Building sustainable partnerships with communities and collaboration between schools and communities was essential for the sustainable transfer of local wisdom. 2) The management model of transferring local wisdom for secondary schools consists of 5 parts: 1) Principles: Emphasizing participation from all stakeholders through practical engagement, leading to sustainable development. 2) Objectives: Promoting and supporting collaboration among all stakeholders in transmitting local wisdom within schools, ensuring continuity and preservation. 3) Essence: The model for transmitting local wisdom contributes to the enhancement of educational quality 4) Elements: Active participation from all stakeholders, with the school serving as the central hub, incorporating the use of technology, and 5) Efficiency and effectiveness in transferring knowledge and local wisdom. Experts are of the opinion that there is a management model for transferring local wisdom to secondary schools. is appropriate accuracy and possibility It's at a very good level.
