Abstract

At some point in life, many individuals inevitably question whether they are on the right path, if their current career truly aligns with their aspirations, or if their existence should possess a deeper meaning. Rather than being anomalies, these inquiries serve as critical indicators of a need for life redirection. Designing Your Life, authored by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans, invites readers to systematically reassess their lives through the core premise that "life can be designed." The defining feature of this book lies in its application of Design Thinking—a methodology traditionally utilized in product, service, and innovation design—to personal life and career development. The authors argue against the notion that a fulfilling life relies solely on innate talent, destiny, or a singular formula for success. Instead, they propose that life can be continuously explored, prototyped, iterated, and learned from. Much like creating a well-crafted design, optimizing one’s life requires a structured process of problem-framing, ideation, prototyping, and continuous refinement.
