Abstract

The study examined service satisfaction and quality of health tourism. It also explored a causal model of satisfaction on service quality of health tourism in aging Scandinavian tourists. The empirical data of this correlational descriptive research was drawn from questionnaires responded by 400 aging Scandinavian tourists who have visited Pattaya city, Chon Buri. Descriptive statistics, means and standard deviation were
used. A causal model of satisfaction on service quality of health tourism was created. Structural Equation Model (SEM) was established, and Path analysis was performed. An established hypothesis was consistent
with the empirical data and was tested with 0.05 level of statistical significance. The findings revealed that the service satisfaction for health tourism perceived by Scandinavian tourists was rated, as a whole, at the
‘high’ level. The service quality for health tourism of Scandinavian aging tourists in Pattaya City, was rated, as a whole, and in all five aspects at the ‘highest’ level. Service satisfaction had a direct positive effect on
the service quality of health tourism. The causal model was consistent with the empirical data. The variables of health tourism service satisfaction in an established model accounted for 69 percent of the total variance
of service quality. Future studies should investigate the expected and perceived service quality among other groups of foreign tourists and study the potentiality of health tourism enterprises in certain areas.
