การศึกษาเรื่องการเปลี่ยนแปลงแนวคิดของสังคมที่มีผลต่อการสร้างจิตรกรรมฝาผนังไทยสมัยต้นรัตนโกสินทร์ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อหาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการเปลี่ยนแปลงแนวคิดของสังคมและการสร้างสรรค์จิตรกรรมฝาผนังไทยสมัยต้นรัตนโกสินทร์ ซึ่งเป็นช่วงเวลาฟื้นฟูบ้านเมืองหลังจากกรุงศรีอยุธยาล่มสลายลง และเพื่อศึกษาแนวคิดของสังคมไทยที่สะท้อนในจิตรกรรมฝาผนัง จากการศึกษาพบว่าแนวคิดทางศาสนาเป็นไปในทางเดียวกันกับแนวคิดด้านการปกครองของไทย ได้แก่ คติจักรวาล พุทธราชา และการสั่งสมบุญบารมี โดยได้รับการถ่ายทอดผ่านงานศิลปะและงานช่าง โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งจิตรกรรมฝาผนังในวัดสามารถส่งผ่านแนวคิดทางสังคมไปสู่ผู้คนได้ง่ายและก่อให้เกิดการบูรณาการทางสังคมขึ้น เมื่อแนวคิดทางสังคมและการเมืองเปลี่ยนแปลงไป เนื่องจากการคุกคามจากชาติตะวันตกในสมัยรัชกาลที่ 3 จนถึงรัชกาลที่ 4 ทั้งทางการเมือง และการรับโลกทัศน์แบบตะวันตก ก่อให้เกิดความเปลี่ยนแปลงทางความคิดทางสังคม และต่อการสร้างงานจิตรกรรมฝาผนังไทยในช่วงเวลาต่อมา

Abstract

The study of the change of the social concepts affecting the creation of Thai mural paintings in the early Bangkok period was aimed to find the relationship between the change of the social concepts and the creation of Thai mural paintings in the early Bangkok period which was during the restoration time after the fall of the Ayutthya realm. It was also aimed to study beliefs utilized in the Thai society’s mural paintings. It found that Buddhist concepts were similar to Thai traditional ruling beliefs. These beliefs were conveyed through arts and crafts all around people. Particularly, the mural paintings in temples could easily reach people and led to the social integration. When the social and political views changed because of threats carried out by the western countries during the reigns of King Rama III and King Rama IV, they had effects on the creation of the Thai mural paintings in these periods and the later ones.
