การศึกษาประเพณีสารทจีนของชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนในเขตเทศบาลเมืองชลบุรี จังหวัดชลบุรี A Study of Chinese Spirit Festival of Chinese-Thai People In Chon Buri Municipality, Chon Buri Province

บทคัดย่อ

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความเป็นมาและคติความเชื่อที่เกี่ยวข้องกับประเพณีสารทจีน รวมทั้งขั้นตอนการปฏิบัติและความเชื่อเกี่ยวกับประเพณีสารทจีนของชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนแต้จิ๋วในเขตเทศบาลเมืองชลบุรี จังหวัดชลบุรี ผู้วิจัยเก็บข้อมูลภาคสนามจากชาวบ้าน กรรมการ เจ้าหน้าที่ หรือผู้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องที่มีประสบการณ์ในการปฏิบัติประเพณีสารทจีน โดยใช้วิธีการสัมภาษณ์ การสังเกต และการถ่ายภาพประกอบ จากนั้นวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล โดยวิธีการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา แล้วนำเสนอผลการวิจัยแบบพรรณนาวิเคราะห์พร้อมมีภาพประกอบ

ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1. ประเพณีสารทจีนสืบเนื่องมาจากความเชื่อดั้งเดิมและประเพณีเซ่นสรวงบูชาในสมัยโบราณของจีนความเชื่อทางศาสนาเต๋าและความเชื่อทางพุทธศาสนามหายาน 2. ประเพณีสารทจีนในเขตเทศบาลเมืองชลบุรี จังหวัดชลบุรี เกิดขึ้นโดยชาวจีนแต้จิ๋วที่อพยพมาตั้งหลักแหล่งในประเทศไทยโดยเฉพาะในจังหวัดชลบุรีหลายระลอกด้วยปัจจัยทั้งภายในและภายนอกตั้งแต่คริส์ศตวรรษที่ 12 จนถึงต้นคริส์ศตวรรษที่ 20 3. การปฏิบัติประเพณีสารทจีนของชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนในเขตเทศบาลเมืองชลบุรี จังหวัดชลบุรีมี 2 ขั้นตอน ได้แก่ ขั้นตอนการเตรียมงานก่อนวันประเพณีและขั้นตอนการปฏิบัติในวันประเพณี ทั้งนี้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับความเชื่อเรื่องเทพเจ้า ความเชื่อเรื่องวิญญาณหรือชีวิตหลังความตาย ความเชื่อเรื่องการทำบุญ ความเชื่อเรื่องอาหารที่เป็นมงคล และความเชื่อเรื่องการเผาเครื่องเซ่นไหว้ เป็นต้น

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the origin and related beliefs of the custom of Chinese Spirit Festival of China, as well as the origin of Chinese-Thai people in Chon Buri Municipality, Chon Buri Province and their Chinese Spirit Festival customs. Field data collection were undertaken withvillagers, members, staffs of religious sites and other related personnel who had experience with arranged Chinese Spirit Festival customs. In-depth interview, observation, and photographing were used as the field data collecting tools. The data was analyzed using content analysis and the results are presented in descriptive analysis form.

The results show that 1) the primitive worship and sacrificial customs are derived from ancient China, the belief of Taoism and the belief of Buddhism are the origin of the custom of Chinese Spirit Festival of China; 2) From the 12th century to the beginning of the 20th century, Chaozhou people migrated to Thailand, especially to Chon Buri Province many times due to domestic and foreign factors; 3) The operating stage of Chinese Spirit Festival of Chinese-Thai people in Chon Buri Municipality, Chon Buri Province is divided into two operating stages, the preparation before the festival day and the operation during the festival day which including various beliefs such as belief in god, faith in the soul or belief in life after death, the good faith, faith in meaning auspicious food, belief in burnt sacrifice supplies, etc.
