Abstract

This study aimed to 1) study the potential of graduate technology students as researchers, 2) create a model for enhancing the potential of graduate technology students as researchers, and 3) study the results of using the model for enhancing the potential of graduate technology students as researchers. The research sample group was totaling 50 graduate technology students from 5 colleges whereas 10 students per college under Institute of Vocational Education Central Region 3.

The results found that 1) the potential of graduate technology students as researchers consisted of 6 aspects: knowledge seeking, knowledge and understanding of innovative research methods, thinking, knowing and understanding oneself, learning research methods, and communication. 2) Regarding the potential enhancement model to develop the potential of graduate technology students as researchers, it showed that there were 4 characteristics: self-awareness, teamwork, self-authentic learning, and reflection ideas. Also There were 4 learning steps: experience, presentation, discussion and conclusion, and reflection. 3) The results of the experiment using the potential enhancement model to develop the potential of being a researcher of graduate technology students found that the students had a higher average score after the experiment than before the experiment, with statistical significance at the .05 level, both in terms of self-perception of potential as a researcher in all aspects and the ability to empower oneself, and it was also consistent with the results of the authentic  assessment.
