A Study of Anatta Principle in the Tipitaka

Abstract

This article has two purpose: 1) to study the background and the significant of Anatta in Tipitaka, and 2) to study Anatta as found in various doctrines. This is the documentary ariticle. The result from studying is found that the doctrine “Antta” is a doctrine that is important in Buddhism. This shows that the truth of the universe does not exist just the state that is located, extinguished according to the factors. The Anatta shows Buddhism's position in rejecting Atta (Self). Anatta means selflessness. It is an empty state from the self. The purpose of teaching about Anatta is to see that everything when looking at the digestion to the end does not exist. Anatta appears in various theology categories, namely Five Aggregates, Three Characteristic, The Law of causation and the Middle teaching.
