An Analytical Study of Paṭiccasamuppāda in Nibbāna-Gāminīpaṭipadā

Abstract

This research article has the objectiove 1) Analyze the Nibbana Kaminipatipatha text in terms of its author's history, structure, content, style, and language. 2) Transliterate the section on dependent origination from Burmese script Pali into Thai script Pali, and then translate it into Thai. 3) Analyze the value of the Nibbana Kaminipatipatha section on dependent origination for the study and practice of samatha and vipassana meditation in Thai society. This is a qualitative document-based research. The research results found that 1) The Nibbana-kamini-patipatha Commentary: A Comprehensive Analysis This study delves into the Nibbana-kamini-patipatha commentary, examining its author, structure, content, and stylistic features. Authored by the Burmese monk, Bhaddanta Acinna Thera, the commentary is divided into nine sections, aligning with the principles of both samatha and vipassana meditation. 2)Translation and Analysis of the Dependent Origination Section This research involves translating the section on dependent origination from the Nibbana-kamini-patipatha commentary, originally written in Burmese script, into Thai script and then into Thai prose. The researcher adopted a literal translation approach to preserve the original meaning and facilitate comparison with the Visuddhimagga, a renowned commentary by Buddhaghosa.          3) The Value of the Nibbana-kamini-patipatha for Meditation Practice This study assesses the significance of the Nibbana-kamini-patipatha, particularly its section on dependent origination, for meditation practice in Thai society. The commentary is structured in a clear and accessible manner, with features such as introductory verses, main body, examples, and concluding summaries. Its focus on both samatha and vipassana meditation techniques makes it a valuable resource for those seeking to attain Nibbana.
